Comfortable Suites and Facilities for Maternity Care

You will stay in a private labor and delivery suite. This is where you will undergo labor, deliver your baby, and recover. Our rooms are designed to help make your birthing experience as comfortable as possible.

Cesarean surgical suites are also located on the unit. You can take comfort in knowing that caring, skilled staff are there to support you every step of the way.

Family-Centered Services and In-Room Care for Your Newborn

It’s very important to have family with you during your birth experience. That’s why we have features in our maternity unit to keep your loved ones comfortable. If your spouse or birth partner wants to spend the night, there are sleeping accommodations in the room. Siblings are welcome to visit their new baby brother or sister and be part of the family experience.

Your baby will stay with you in the room throughout your stay. A Halo® BassiNest® Swivel Sleeper allows your baby to be close and easy to reach. This helps make cuddle and care time easier — especially after a caesarean section.

Choices and Accommodations for Labor and Birth

At Sierra Medical Center, we encourage you to work with your healthcare provider to decide on a birth plan that’s right for you. This may include a cesarean delivery in one of our operating suites, or a vaginal birth where anesthesia services will be provided if requested for pain relief. Our caring team is here to support you through all phases of labor.

New-Mommy Concierge Program

To help new mothers celebrate and enjoy this special time in life, we feature a New-Mommy Concierge Program that includes:

  • Afternoon tea
  • Private consultation with lactation consultants

Lactation Care to Help with Breastfeeding

If you need support with breastfeeding or just have questions, our lactation consultants are available to assist you. We know breastfeeding can be challenging at first. That’s why we provide that extra support needed to make you comfortable with breastfeeding before you leave the hospital.

Birth Tissue Donation Program

Sierra Medical Center is proud to partner with Nevada Donor Network to offer expectant moms the opportunity to donate birth tissue.

What does birth tissue donation involve?

Birth tissue includes the placenta and umbilical cord, which is routinely discarded after birth. These tissues are made up of proteins, growth factors, cytokines and extracellular matrix molecules that stimulate cell regeneration, reduce inflammation and expedite recovery times for recipients. Donated birth tissue can be used in various medical procedures and therapies including wound healing, ophthalmic procedures, skin grafting, spinal surgeries and sports injury repair.

Is birth tissue donation safe?

Birth tissue donation is safe for mothers and babies and there is no cost to the mother for giving this generous gift of healing. Importantly, birth tissue donation is regulated by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and standards surrounding the donation of these tissues are provided by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).

Nevada state law (NRS 442.910) was enacted in 2024, as a first in the United States, which states expectant mothers are required to be provided information about tissue donation, and birth tissue donation hospitals must be accredited.

How does birth tissue donation work at Sierra Medical Center?

At Sierra Medical Center, birth tissue donation is available for mothers undergoing cesarean sections (c-sections). Once an expecting mother has expressed interest in donation to her OB/GYN, the hospital or a tissue donation coordinator from Nevada Donor Network will contact the patient while they are in the hospital to discuss the full process.
