Sierra Medical Center Celebrates First Baby Born in Reno-Sparks

NewsNorthern Nevada Sierra Medical Center welcomed Reno-Sparks’ first newborn on Monday, January 1, 2024 at 12:20 a.m. Baby boy Dillon was born weighing in at 8 pounds, 14 ounces, and 21 inches long. He was welcomed by parents Kaden and Mikela.
“Our staff was overjoyed when we welcomed the first baby of the New Year to our hospital,” said Tori Vieira, RN, Nursing Director of the Labor and Delivery Department. “We congratulate the new parents and all our families who welcome babies this year.”
Sierra Medical Center’s Family Birth Center (FBC), which opened in April 2022, features spacious, 100-percent private delivery and postpartum suites, labor tubs, comfortable sleeping arrangements for partners, C-section operating rooms, breastfeeding support and various amenities focused on family-centered care. The Center is also home to the region’s newest Level II NICU that cares for infants born at 32-weeks gestation or later who have needs or conditions that require specialized medical attention.
